HELP Ghost in my 84 crx
I have a 84 crx stock and the only things i have added are a kill switch and radio with a amp. here is my ghost.
Ill be driving along, (mind you that it doesnt matter what the weather or environmental factors are) and the tach will just start to jump wildly. I know the tach is fine, its just reflecting what is going on with the engine. it is literally jumping anywhere from 3000 rpm down to 2000 or below.
The lights and radio are not effected at all.
when i touch the gas petal, it makes it worse. i end up having pull over and let it keep jumping around till it dies.
I'll try restarting and nothing happens. the starter wont turn yet the starter is still new, about a year on it the most.
i kill everything (lights, hazards, everything) and take out the keys. first time i try to restart, it nothing for maybe a minute or two. then i try it again and it starts up like nothign ever happened.
I've had it happen to me after maybe 5 minutes of driving or an hour, it doesn't matter. so i know it has nothing to do with long amounts of driving in one ride.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED
all ive got so far is its electrical and in the carb which was rebuilt about a year ago completely.
i have an inkling its the carbslinoid. i dont think we changed that, well that i know of. my piece of garbage haynes book only shows it in one picture but not any diagrams.
PLEASE ANY SUGESTIONS ON WHAT TO LOOK AT REPLACE ANYONE WITH A SIMILAR GHOST PLEASE EMAIL ME

That is what I think it might be. Make sure all your plugs are clean going and coming from the dist. Also make sure that you have all your grounds on your engine down tight. You might have a loose ground or an extra ground that is drawing power and causing your engine attempt to try and catch up which would make the jumping happen.

Bad news, your CRX is toast. Might want to go see a priest for an exorcism...
Seriously, now you say that your idle jumps all over the place right... Not just the tach right?
Now if, when this happens, it stalls and your ignition switch is not providing power to your starter (starter does not turn at all), then you have an electrical problem.
When you try to restart it, does the starter click or is it dead?
How fast does it move from one rpm range to another?

nope the starter is dead but as i said i kill everything and wait a lil whgile and it starts up like nothign happened its weird as all hell
and the time for rpm jump is really quicky id have to say for compairison about 1/2 a second for 500 rpm drop then it goes back up and so on and so fourth
