can anyone explain to me how the injector resistor box works and what type of sensors control it or anything that affects its routine. how does it control the injectors. How does the ecu control it. THANKZ FOR ANY HELP
The reason for the resistor box is to drive low impedance/peak hold injectors (which have low internal impedance) at the proper resistance. How it works is very simple. There is an input wire (normally red, atleast on the nonOBD boxes which are more common) which gets a IGN 12V+, this is then run to each of the four resistors contained within the box eaching having its own output lead (four black wires). Each output now ties into the positive of each injectors (nonOBD = red/blk, OBDI/II = yel/blk (+) wires). The injectors are triggered by the ECU when it "switches" the negative (brown, red, blue, or yellow wire) to a ground completing a circuit. That's pretty much all there is to the injector circuit. Most cars now have high impedance/saturated injectors which have added built in resistance eliminating the need for an inline resistor box.
