my car would start fine in the morning. so it starts fine in the cold. but around the afternoon time when its warm, it would start in the beginning, then when i leave for about a few mins..come back..car wont start..doesnt crank. ive replaced my main relay twice thinking that was the problem, but thats not it. what else could it be? its such a hassle when i have to push start my car everytime by myself..
i would open the door push and run as fast as i can, jump it , clutch in, in gear, and pop the clutch. i would get tired and get pissed off. anyone else know what it could be?

Check and make sure the wiring on the back of the starter is not loose. On my car the little brown wire always falls off and the car won't crank.
It sounds alot like a main relay problem....temp based no start = main relay.
Are you using new relays or just junk yard units? One other area to look is the ignitor.

You may need a new starter dude.
They are pretty cheap (the rebuilt ones), and they make all the difference in the world

the main relay that i replaced is not brand new. but its pulled from a car that i know it did work for it.

well i was looking into the starter.. but it seems more of an electrical problem instead. but i will replace that and see what happens.

its probably the relay since you just got it from another car. u should go buy a brand new one from honda, that should solve your problem
If your having to pop start the car when its hot out your battery is dead, A battery can hold a little charge better in cold weather then it can in hot hot wheather. The heat pretty much bakes the electrolyte right off your grid plates and you'll have numerous dead cells......once you get it started, the battery basically recharges and away you go.
I can almost gurantee you thats what it is based off my own knowledge, customers cars, and this happened to my old car.
good luck

my car does the same ****. Sometimes if I hold the key to start it, there is a 2, 3 second delay before it starts, sometimes even longer. Last time my car didnt want to start, I jump started it and it cranked up fine. Also when I had my rev/speed meter, the voltage reading was at 11.1 volts when i hold down the key to crank it. Speaking of which, i'm gonna check it out now and see if I figure out this problem already!

well the thing is, its the 3rd relay ive replaced. and all the relay i got was from a for sure car that i know the relay has no problem. because all the car that was pulled from it fired up fine.

let say my battery is somewhat dead, would it at least have a hard time cranking?
see the thing is, when it wouldnt crank, everything inside my car is fine, all my accessories work. sometimes it would take 2-3 tries for it to crank and it sounds like it fires up fine with no problem. sometimes it would just take a little longer and when i get impatient, i just push start my car. and also sometimes when i try and crank it, it wouldnt crank, then i would let go of my clutch and step on it again, then it would start. i guess i can check my battery for voltage and amp for the alternator.

Well didnt you just kinda figure out the problem there, maybe not the exact problem but go check the contact for your clutch pedal position sensor, measure the resistance in the sensor and available voltage at the circuit.
Just make sure it didnt get kincked sideways, somtimes if its like I remember the plunger doesnt release all the way and doesnt complete a full circuit.

i highly doubt its my clutch position sensor, but doesnt hurt to give it a try. thanks.

i can hear my main relay click everytime i try and start and i also hear my fuel pump. so i dont know if it would be these 2 things.
Have you changed your starter yet?
Your problem had the same symptoms as when i needed to change my starter.
However you also have the same symptoms for needing to change the battery. My bro's EK went through this. He just purchased a new battery, installed it in like 5 mins, and away he went.
Try changing the battery first since it is easier than getting down behind the motor for the starter. If your car still does the same thing with your new battery, change your starter (you are going to have to change this anyway down the road).
Good luck

do you think its the ignition switch? its starter to be real bad now..
check for power with a volt meter when you try to start it at the ignition switch, if you get power everytime you try to start it then you konw its not the switch.
you can do the same thing with the starter, measure the volts when you turn the key, see if it get votls everytime you try and start it.
just gotta think about it and start to eliminate things

also dont forget to check your grounds especially the main ground from the battery if it is corroded or a little loose it will cause these symptoms.
i had a similar problem in a VW. The car would start once a day, and that was it.
I'm not sure if hondas have these but in my VW it was a Key Tumbler, the piece that turns with the key on the inside of the steering colum. Have that looked at, i know alot of people prob. never think of that, but your problem sounds like mine, so i'll throw this out there for you

starter solenoid is dead (part that engages the starter to the flywheel). Bring a broom stick with you. When it happens wack the starter and I bet it starts. Main relay has NOTHING to do with the actual starter. If it cranks and doesnt fire id like at the relay, but if it doesnt crank at all it's something else.
Sounds like it's time to replace the starter.

well..when it wont start with my key..i would pop the hood.. get a screw driver.. and start it with the starter..and it starts up just fine..
if you have a b16 try checking the head temp sensor. when the car has been driven and the head gets hot the that sensor will act like a safty device and not let your car start. most people just unplug it....
also listen VERY carefuly for your fuelpump to turn on. thats what happened to me in my DA integra, same scenerio. just try clicking it on and off 10-15 times till you hear it turn on. i can almost be 100% its one of those two things.

on the starter theres 2 terminal... a positive and negative...use a screw driver touch positive over negative...and i get a crank..thats how i would need to start my car when my car doesnt crank with the key.
