Default Pics of the B16 swap into the Crix

Updated: Mar 26
Mar 27

I purchased this motor from HMO a while back. I've been gathering parts for the past couple months and finally had everything I needed. The car is an 88 Crx Si I picked up for 500 bux as a mechanic lien. Threw in a new w/p, timing belt, tensioner, exedy clutch. Still needs fluids and a test pipe to finish off the exhaust. This is my first swap and Honda-tech has helped me out more than any other source on the net, Thank You .

The car

D16a6

Goodbye Sohc

The B meets the D

"The B" B16a/S1

Friend takin a break

inchin it in . . .

Time to make connections . .

I finished the connections for the most part, still short some tranny fluid. Haven't cranked her yet. Sat will def. be turn key day. Im prayin!

How she sits as of tonite ...

Good job

That's a pretty clean motor, did you clean it up, or did it come that clean? Nothing beats that feeling of accomplishment.

The motor came steam cleaned w/ some silicon mixture, which made all the hoses fresh and clean. The remaining oil spots I scrubbed off w/ a toothbrush and brake cleaner. Im hoping Sat or Sun will be turn key day! I will post up the finished pics and let yall know what I think about her. Open header all the way to the exhaust shop is gonna be a lot of fun

lol when I did my swap by myself, I went to start it up with a beer in my hand.

Click, Click, crank, crank, crank, crank followed by intensive swearing

Ended up being that I forgot to install my pg7 because my friend said he did it.

Great feeling though. Nice work

question, where were the cinder blocks doing behind the rear wheels?

If the car slipped, they would have done almost nothing...

outside of that, congrats... i just dropped in another b16a into mine as well...

The car currently has no e-brake so when I jacked it up it was necessary. While I was underneath thou I brought out one to lie directly underneath the car , along with the jack and both jack stands, im super paranoid i guess!

do'h.

autozone has little tyre hold type of things. they'll work MUCH better than the cinder blocks.

i only say this cause, i did the same thing as you did, and the car rolled halfway down my driveway, pushing the blocks with it.

Plus, i've had cinder blocks break on me.

Very nice looking engine

Oh and you dont have an ebrake? Like you dont have it at all....or it doesnt work? cause you know you can fix your ebrake if it jsut wont engage by adjusting your drums it will take about 20 min. the longest part being jacking the car up and taking the rear wheels off.....

that is unless you have a si.....with rear disc and the springs on the calipers are broke?
