how do you wire in the distributor on a jdm h22 when it has an internal coil? evertone says to use the accord harness but it is set up for a motor with an external coil? how has everyone delt with this problem? PLEASE HELP!!!

 

you can convert to an external coil on the later 5th gen preludes. i did. i think it helped simplify the job a little.

 

i dont know about turbo prelude not being practical. thats absurd. if its well built and tuned it'll run forever. if you have no idea how to tune a car, sure itll never work. but the car i built for mike has forged pistons and rods, stand bore size 1/8th inch wall sleeves, fmax turbo kit 350 to the wheels at 18 psi and has 47,000 miles to date on teh engine, only problem is clutch is now in need of replacement.

dont convert it. Just simply modify your harness. A while back we had to connect 1 or 2 wires from the external coil plug to the distributor plug. Check voltages thats how we got my freinds to work in a dx.

 

only 350 hp on a lude @18 pounds ? sounds like its not properly tuned or built you should be in mid to high 4oos with the amount of boost.

 

your lx has an external COIL? If you pickup an EX harness it will wire directly to the h22...you are missing a knock sensor, and the IABS isnt on that harness, intake temp needs to be lengthened, the IAC needs to be lengthened, the vaccum sensor on the MAP needs to be lengthened and you are pretty much good to go...I did all this crap tonight for my h22a swap...I didnt know the LX had an external coil...thats odd...

 

The easiest way is to simply swap the internals from your original coil to the H22 coil.
