Default h23a1 -> h22a

Hey everyone, I know this topic has been beaten on like a dead horse, but I've done some extensive searching everywhere and have not been able to find a definitive answer.

Please bear with me, I am quite a newbie.

I have a 93 Prelude Si with a broken cylinder. I just recently bought a JDM h22a block. I already have the p13 ecu.

I know that I have to use the h23a distributor and coils, but how do I go about moving the distributor wire? On the Si, it is on the right side; and on the VTEC it comes out the other side. Will I have to take out the entire intake manifold to move the wire over, or is there an easier way to do this?

How do I connect the h23a distributor to the h22a block? And how do I connect all the h22a sensors to the h23a distrib wire? Or do I?

Is that all that I'll need to do to get the engine up and running, with the VTEC being able to engage? Or is there any additional thing that I have to do?

Thanks in advance guys, I'm afraid of messing something up and then having to pull out the entire block again.

I'm not getting what you're saying about the distributor. Anyways, all you have to do is swap it over. Take off the JDM h22a dizzy and put the h23a1 on. Easy as pie. make sure you get a timing gun and check the ignition timing. if you reused your h23a1 engine wiring harness, then you don't have to re-wire nothing on the dizzy. as for VTEC, you have to wire it.

VTEC Solenoid Yellow/Green A4
VTEC Oil Pressure Sensor Blue (passenger side harness) D6
VTEC Ground Black chassis ground

the fuel rail, you can use the old h23a1 on the JDM h22a. you have to do this cause it comes off the other side for the h22a. All you do is replace the fuel rail. take it off and reuse the h22a injectors. pretty simple and straight foward.

OT but I think somebody needs to FAQ this stuff. this is like the 5th time I've posted info on a h23a1 to a JDM h22a swap.

you have h23. you bought h22 BLOCK...where is vtec coming in? you need h22 head swap, not block. if you bought a block all you have is a 2.2 nonvtec h-series.

at least the block is ready to turn 7500 rpm.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I should have been more specific; its a h22a block with a complete head.

I guess my question was, is there a way to take off the fuel injectors without having to play around with the intake manifold?

And where is the oil pressure sensor and ground? I found the solenoid.

Anyone have some pictures of the VTEC part wiring?

You just have to remove the fuel rail form the intake manifold to get the injectors out... The oil pressure switch is located on the VTEC Solenoid, it should be a green plug, one wire for a ground(black), one goes to the ecu(blue)...

One last question.

What should I do about this external/internal ignition coil problem? An earlier post said to order external coil brackets from the site below. Is it the #2 what I need, or do I need any thing else there.

Thanks you guys, you've been of great help.

bump

Can I use the external ignition coil off the h23a, or what's this "coil bracket" thing I hear I have to order?

you can use the external coil & distributor from an H23. The bracket parts are #4 and #2 that you will need. I had a lot of extra bolts laying around so i didn't need any bolts but if you need some you will also need #6,#7,#8. the others you can re-use
