i noticed some oil leaking from the valve cover today.. so i decided to take a stab and change the valve cover gasket for the gsr...

THe nuts that i am talking about are not the ones under the spark plug cover, but they are the 4 nuts on the outer edge of the valve cover.

anyways.... i was only able to loosen 3 of the outer valve cover nuts... but the 4th one seem to be spinning together with the bolt...

i say this b/c when i was loosening it, i have noticed that i was turning it for a while. and the nut is still not coming off the bolt.

does anyone have any suggestions?

 

It's stripped.

Cut it off and replace the stud/grommet/nut.

 

i tried to pull the nut off with the vise grip

but it still didnt budge.. it seems like the bolt and nut is spinning together

 

but i still cant take the valve cover off. so i cant get to the stripped nut/bolt

 

try spinning it more....until the whole stud unscrews?

 

i tried unscrewing it for a good 3 minutes..

and its still not coming off

 

Like I said, you will have to CUT it off.

Oh yah, and don't overtighten it next time

 

hmmm damit.. i guess thats the only thing left to do
if i dremel off the nut.. what would i have to do, inorder to replace the stud of the outer valve cover?
any one know?
over tightening it is definitely a bad idea.
