i have a problem with my new swap (ls/vtec in my ek). i am having a lot of vibrations. i was reading stuff on honda-tech and they said it was normal for a new rebuilt motor, and that you should wait until the motor is fully broken into for it to go away. is this true... cause the entire car vibrates everytime i give it gas.

 

It could be your motor mounts

 

all my motor mount bolts are tight... but still vibrates...

 

Even though they might be tight, they could be worned out.

 

ever heard of buying a brand new honda and it shaking like crazy?? definatley not normal and i doubt its your motor. Probably mounts are worn, or if you have polys thats your problem

 

all my mounts looks good. no tears or unusual wear in the rubber bushings. trying to wait it out to see if it goes away like what other threads say. but your inputs will be considered and tried out to fix the problem. so anymore suggestions...

hey still have the vibrations which only happens like around 2k - 3k rpm when i'm giving it gas. hearing it could be my axles but they are brand spankin new. could it me my mid shaft? any help would be nice...

funny your axle didnt come with a rubber damper on it right? mine does the same thing and my old one had a rubber ring on it.. new one does not.

thats what i was gonna say, the order of the torque sequence can cause vibrations if its not followed properly.

 

yup i have those jimfab mounts all torqued correctly, almost 0 vibrations over stock. the damn thing doesn't move at all either. oh, and i'd sure hope it's not normal for a new motor to vibrate like a bitch. who said that

I had this problem with my car when I swapped the motor... checked all mounts.. torque specs, changed both axles..... then as a last resort attempt I changed the crank pulley and the vibration went away. It's worth a shot!

 

are you running an after market clutch???

 

its a stock gsr pressure plate with a sprung six puck. y you think this is the problem

 

I would try a new crank pulley before ripping your trans off. My pulley looked completely fine.. but was causing awful eninge vibration.

 

why would a crank pully cause the vibration?

 

If the crank pulley is chipped it might help some vibration except it all depends on the vibration, timing and spark plugs is what Ill worry about...

 

i put new plugs and new wires, still haven't changed the cap and rotor though. don't think its my crank pully though i'll take a look at it though.

If the rubber "balancer" part of the pulley is deteriorated internally, Under rotation it can cause the pulley to spin unbalanced... I'm telling you, Mine looked fine but it would cause my whole engine to vibrate at higher RPM.... It's worth a try before ripping you're trans off is all I'm saying...

no i haven't gotten the problem resolved though yesterday i desided to pull apart my axles and found that there was a lot of play where the driverside axle went into the intermedate shaft. it seemed as if there were something wrong with the inter. shaft. i don't have another one so i can't swap it out to see if that was the problem, but most likely that is the problem... i'll keep yal updated when i get the new shaft...

 

make sure all your cylinders are firing. had that problem after swap start the car and the motor shook like a ****. come to find out cyl#2 was not firing.

 

it's not ignition. it's fine just vibrations in low rpm's like 2-3k.
