Default Piece on door weatherstrip. What is it?

Checked the helms and didn't see any reference to it. Doesn't look like it serves any purpose and it was deforming the weatherstrip so that it didn't sit flush against the window when it was rolled all the way up--so I removed it.

Anyone have any idea what its intended purpose is?

Thanks.

if you ever need to pull the stripping out i think it makes it easier. i always fiddle with it when im driving and pop it out accidently

Hrmm, it doesn't let the window go up all the way? Maybe that's why my window makes noises at 80+mph.

It lets the window go all the way up, but the weatherstrip is crammed up against it and isn't flush, so yeah if you were going fast, I imagine wind could get in and make some noise. Something worth checking. I just pulled mine off and have it in my glovebox should I ever need it.

91civicLX, your explanation sounds reasonable. Hopefully I'll never need to strip it off. Thanks
