keep your eyes out for this one:
The details of the TEIN Type RE install and effects on my Type R can be found therein...drop me a line at scott@grmotorsports.com with your address info if you don't subscribe and want a free sample issue... if you do so before April 5th and your free sample should be the May one shown above with the article.
Gonna try like heck to make it to the ITR expo and cover that...

Can I send you an e-mail to correct my address on my subscription? I only received like 1/3 of the issues I was supposed to get (just noticed the address was "wrong"). I didn't complain though since it was free through the NASA membership.

thk, you actually need to contact NASA for that since they maintain their own database and spool their own mailing labels, we just print the magazines
I really enjoyed proofing the issue, there's a TON of tech stuff in there from fuel injectors to limited slips. I think you guys will dig it.
And the cover story happens to have been written by a certain Honda-Tech member with a Type R
Of course, if you like it you have to subscribe!

Awesome! Hopefully I receive my copy this time. I'm a subscriber, but I half of the issues don't seem to show up a lot. I'm not sure why. Maybe someone is stealing them from me? I have no clue.
Scott read the article last night, was a great article but I have a couple of questions. For the amount that those shocks cost a can you specify your own springs rats? Can they be made so you can adjust rebound and compression separately?
Maybe I have the wrong idea, but wouldnt you want to stiffen up the rear with a higher spring rate then the front??? i know many who do this. Maybe someone could shed some insight?
Today (April 20) is when the issue should hit newsstands, many of you subscribers already have it (hint hint subscribe).
It's true that the popular setup in series like Honda-Challenge is for stiffer rear springs than in the front, and for a brief time I had some 450F 600R springs on my car with wonky dampers, but it's hard to baseline against those becuase the dampers were never functioning properly. With the adjustability set to soft front and firm rear, the car will still oversteer when decelerating at an autoX, and has phenomenal slalom capabilities. I haven't tracked it (except for our mini test course as outlined in the article) since the install, so I haven't experienced any high-speed sweepers save for on-ramps. TEIN doesn't recommend swapping the springs front and rear, they say the dampers are specifically rated to the springs; they do offer a variety of spring rates though, their website has good info: http://www.tein.com/ I'm not sure why they go with a higher front than rear rate, but they do, and I'm not dissapointed.
They're not the only option and they are pricey, but so far i'm really happy with mine.

Sample issues would go with the second mailing, i think the labels for that just got spooled, give it a couple of weeks and if you didn't get it email me and we'll fix you up.

Received the magazine a couple days ago. Great article on the itr.
am I on the free subscription list?

Nice article Scott. I guess I'm glad you're not racing up in Akron anymore, what with all those nice mods you've got on there now. I kept up alright before, but with that lovely flat cornering you'll probably school the stock setup.
Looking forward to more of your articles!

depends on the setup.
tein = jdm
jdm setups tend to have an emphasis on heavier springs in front to induce more understeer, b/c of the way they tune suspensions over there...generally wider tires in front, thinner in back (oversteer induced). combine this with a huge thick *** sway bar in back, it comes out fairly well.
over here, in the US, we dont have as nearly as big of a sway bar in the rear, and unless your going to set your integra up much like they do in jdm land, the cheaper alternative is to dial out the understeer setup in the US by adding a bit heavier spring in the rear.
make sense?
I have yet to figure out what is a good setup as far as spring rates ... 400/450, 450/500 or maybe even 450/550
