just got back from the bank, and when i was in the parking lot, and behind a shopping center, my steering felt very clunky. i could actually see the steering wheel kick back and forth about an inch. i parked, and got out and checked my tires because i thought i might have a flat tire. tires were perfect, suspension looked fine. drove home, and it didn't do it again. any ideas?

 

i wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to do it consistently. what is the mileage on your car?

 

preload tension adjust on the rack itself ?

worn steering coupler ?

could be many things...

 

150,000 miles...as long as it doesn't do it this afternoon when i go to work, i won't worry too much about it.

 

update. after my car sat in the parking lot at work for about 5 hours, i came out and drove it. it had stopped raining about 3 hours before i drove it around, and it didn't do it anymore. i think it might be a torn cv boot because it felt like it would go to the right, and only did it in the rain. i have tomorrow off, so im going to check it out.

 

sounds like what happend to me. my steering wheel moves left and right simultaneously at low speeds and also pulls to the left. found out my left cv joint boot was torn so i replaced it. didn't fix any of the steering problems though so yea hope u find out whats wrong so you can help me out too
