Default Oil pressure/temp gauge questions...

I've got a DOHC ZC in an 89 CRX DX and I just picked up some gauges that I've got some questions about.

Here's what I've got:

Here's my questions:

1. I'm not exactly sure where to hook up the pressure gauge. From what I've read there's a place to hook it up near the oil filter on the block. The only info I could find on this was for B-series motors. I've also read about running a line from the block to a T-fitting on the firewall to reduce problems caused by vibration, is this necessary? If so, what do I need to get?

2. For the temp gauge, is the oil pan my only option? If so, do I have to drill a hole, or can I install it in the drain plug hole? If I do need to drill a hole, does some sort of a bung need to be welded on, or do I need to just tap the hole or what? If I need to drill a hole, does it matter where on the oil pan it is? If I have to remove the oil pan, can I reuse the gasket, or should I buy a new one? And finally, should I be using teflon tape, or something, on all the brass fittings?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm hoping to install these gauges this weekend, so I want to be fully prepared.

thanks,
Brent

you need a t-fitting right above the oil filter and i little to the left, there is an oil line running there...you then run your gauge off of it....as for the temp gauge..i'm not really sure, but it looks like you may be able to just plug that adapter into the drain plug then the sensor into it....but once again i'm not really sure on the temp gauge

I wouldnt want that oil pressure gauge inside my car thats for sure...mechanical gauges like that belong outside the passenger compartment...would hate to see an oil leak inside the car

I'm gonna mount them in the center air vent, right above the climate control.

I seem to hear this a lot. Are mechanical oil pressure gauges really that prone to leaking?

About the oil psi gauge, i used a stainless braided line instead of the nylon one and i have the gauge mounted inside my car. And about the temp. gauge, i have one of those as well and i drilled a hole and tapped it near my drainplug on the backside of the oil pan and threaded the sensor in there. Everything works fine, and yes u should use teflon tape. Dont just wrap the tape around one or twice, do it a few more times to ensure no leaks.

Installing Pressure Gauge

DO NOT INSTALL IT DIRECTLY ON THE BLOCK WITH A T-FITTING.

Temp, the oil pan is probably the best place. I'd go cut a harness from a junkyard car and solder that onto the wire so you can quickly disconnect it like a factory harness.

what ever you do dont put the temp sender in the oil drain plug hole.... it will hang at an odd angle and "will" hit something and break off..... since the plug dont go straight in the back part of the pan and that sender would be about 2 inches closer to the ground than your pan!

I had a Oil psi gauge in my first gen with a nylon hose and never had any probs with it. It didn't even leak or break after I rolled it a couple time.
