Default Cd player may be messed up...

Ok, so im driving home from work listening to some "the used" at a normal sound level, enjoying the nice warm weather outoudside. All of a sudden all my speakers shut off but my sub keeps playing. NO sound at all comes from the speakers, just the sub. I took off the faceplate for a while, turned off the car, unplugged the harness, and checked my wiring-and everything seems fine. I also checked the fuses and they are fine also.

The CD Player plays fine-so there is power to it, the sub also plays. Just no sound from the speakers. All i have for speakers are some 5 1/4 clarions in the front and some 6x7 infinity kappa's in the rear

Conclusion-

A) Internal amp is blown (hope not damnit)
B) My wiring is loose somewhere (doubt it)
C) A fuse is blown (doubt that also)

I called panasonic and the guy told me the amp could of switched off, and to unplug the harness for a while to reset it I am trying this as i type, but do you guys know what the hell else this could be? I have only had the head unit for like 3 months and i wasn't even playing it hard.

Try hooking up a speaker to an output straight from the head unit. You might have a short somewhere. If it's a harness and a positive or negative pulls out or loses contact with the factory head units wiring, than all 4 may go out. I've had it happen just from getting a shitty harness from Crutchfield.

Chances are if all your speakers have stopped and your subs keep playin, you probly have either a Blown speaker or a short in the wiring, the amp sees the blown speaker or the short as a ground, what I would do is to take the harness out and disconnect the speakers one at a time, if you find the speaker that has the short or that is blown and disconnect it, all your other speakers should play fine. The internal amp shuts itself off to keep it from going out all together. Find the short/blown speaker and you've found your problem
