They will keep someone from popping your hood well enough, but I wouldn't use them in place of hood pins on a carbon/fiberglass/kevlar/etc hood.

I don't see why no one uses electronic hood locks, saves drilling holes through your hood.

i would also like to know where to find electric hood locks.

i figure those pin locks would do the same thing as hood pins if they can keep someone from popping your hood.

I think he's talking about a universal "pop-it" solnoid... Like the ones they use on shaved door handles, with remote door-poppers, like on hot rods. ...and hondas the wanna look "pimp." Id imagine you would take out the factory latching system, bolt/weld the solinoid with a custom bracket where the existing latch was. Then weld a solid piece of medal at leat 1/4 inch thick on the underside of your hood (to prevent dents). I dont think anyone makes a drop-in electric hood popper...
As for the hood-locks, ive seen those, and they are awesome! Im looking at a set for myself, great idea my mr gasket. The only reason you would need these instead of hood pins, is if you took out your factory hood latch/handle and someone could easily access with no need to get in the interior to "pop" it.

Sorry, I live in NZ so not sure where you can get them. I'm sure they'll be on ebay or something.
I'm talking about an electronic lock where you secure the electronic locking mechanism somewhere under the hood, and a metal prong to the hood itself. ( I don't have a cf hood so not sure how easy it is to secure it to the hood)
When you close the hood the prong drops through the locking mechanism, you need an electrical current to unlock it, so you can rig it to your alarm or have a hidden switch.

thats cool, im getting the locks and had never heard of that electric lock idea. sounds cool, but too much work, i'd rather just relocate my hood latch handle and get the locks.
