Default New Civic or RSX

I'm new to the car world but I would like to get a good start in it. I haven't bought my car yet, but I do know that i will be buying a new 2004 Honda Civic or a 2004 Acura RSX. My problem is that New York City isnt as big a racing community as other places like Miami or Los Angeles and I'm not familiar with any garages or stores in my area that would have the type of parts that I need as well as be able to put them on. If anyone in the New York area has recommendations or knows of any garages/stores in general where I can have work done and purchase parts I would greatly appreciate any information. Also any good websites that you may know of that have products and product information would be greatly appreciated. Even telling me your favorite car tuning magazine would help me out. I would greatly appreciate any information and advice you can give me. This car will be a cosmetic and appearence customization. I am not going to modify the engine for a good amount of time and I need to buy a new car. I know that the Civic is not a fast car, and I dont plan on racing it so i would appreciate it if you didnt just post about it being a stupid buy. I cant post in the cosmetics/appearence section so if you can tell me how to do it i would appreciate that too.

it's not hard to do-it-yourself when it comes to appearance mods,,,especially if you're getting factory parts they are really easy to install yourself. And I think it's probably easier if you buy them online to have them shipped to you.

4 Things.

1. Buy the Rsx Type S - If u serious i got a dealer hookup for u.
2. There are TONS of SHOPS in NY. If u think NY isnt as real as L.A. or MIA u need 2 get into the race scene cuase there are 300 hoopty civics running low 12's on drag radials in the street. I live in the Bronx and there are about atleast 10 SHOPS i can think of off the top of my head that are as real as they come.
3. DONT FORGET. Buy the RSX type S.
4. Once u get the car- hit me up on PM and ill give u some nice hookups on things.

I know it sounds stupid but the car im getting will be an automatic. This car will be a purely cosmetic customization. very little will be done to the engine and it will definately not be raced.

The Civic Si doesn't come with an Automatic. Manual only.
Base RSX sounds like your best bet.

Ok bottom line Civics are for pussies , or girls. The RSX is a nice ride, with better aftermarket potential. I personally wouldn't go for either one of those. Try a Saab 9.5 Turbo, they seem cool in commercials.

heh... probably the dumbest argument I've ever seen.

When getting an RSX, ask yourself if you will eventually want performance. You can hook up any car to look good. If you do, might as well spend the extra couple grand and get the Type-S, it's only uphill from there. It's manual, but you know, once you go manual, you won't want to go back.

My new car is gonna be an automatic, cheaper end range of the model. Im only 17, i cant afford the really good **** yet, also, im not going to be using this car for performance customization, only cosmetic, i know i can make any car look good which is why i've limited my options to an rsx or a civic, also im not getting an si, i hate SIs, if im only going to fix up the looks on the car, shouldnt i just get the low end model. and that saab 95 thing was idiotic, if i was gonna get a saab it would be a 93, cause thats the coupe, but im not getting a saab

Ok, let's make this simple. If you want a hot hooked up car get an rsx, even if it's a slush box, if you want cheaper insuurance, get the ex civic. Point blank, even the base rsx has more potetial than a civic, with exception to the SI of course. Man, I cring at the thought of an automatic, but, I've been up in NY. Those are the most shitiest roads I've driven on! IMO though, someone who drives around with all show and no go doesn't get my vote. I'd take an S before I'd take a kitted out rimmed up base. That's just me, I don't like knowing I'm limited on my upgrades. Plus, every time some other racer/ricer sees you sitting next to them at the light, they're gonna want to get at you everytime. I can see that getting annoying really fast. One day you might change your mind and want your show with a side of go. If you can't drive a stick learn. In the end, it is your choice though. Good luck with your buy
