Default Not sure what is the cause - erractic idle (Did search already - but diff scenarios) Plz read

So here's the scenario:

Car has "normal" idle when cold but when it warms up the idle will slowly get higher. It idles around 2250 when warm, and it doesn't surge yet. It starts to surge if say I'm in a traffic jam and i'm going in 1st gear but don't fully release the clutch and have to stop again (hope u guys know what i mean here). Then it'll surge like 2-4x and idle back at 2250. The funny part is: at night when my headlights are on, my idle is smooth like butter at a steady 1000 (still a bit high but much more desired than the day time driving)

The IACV and FITV (sp?) are fine as i checked those. My guess is the TPS is out of position and my closed position is registering higher than .5v. I'm assuming this because wouldn't it be possible that at night when headlights are on, less "voltage" is hitting the TPS and it might actually be close to .5v ..

Anyways, can anyone verify my assumption or give me any ideas as to what is wrong.

Thanks

i'd say go to auto zone and get a new tps and if that doesn't change anything take it back and you'll get you're money back, but it's worth the drive over to try

nah you've got a vac leak somewhere.

did you disconnect the IACV and see how it works then?

IACV has been checked. Originally this was the problem - then i replaced it and it went ok.

Reading up on more I came across a post by Kasper EF8 and his problem seemed very similar to mine.

I'm goin to take a look at the IA screw and see if it has come loose.

Thanks for replying to my thread. Greatly appreciated.

BTW, how do u check for leaks? I keep reading about a spray but what is it and where can u buy it from
