Default Any way to hook up a External hard drive to my H/U?

Here is the deal. I have a home DVD player and on-dash screen, run off a power inverter. Playing Mp3's on the DVD player workes great, 4.7 gigs of music on a disk, I can sort through them using the screen, great whatever.... I have a 125 gig external hard drive full of music is there anyway to hook up the USB on that harddrive to a processing unit that puts out video and sound? (other than a laptop) I have no power restricitons, and I would perfer it to be small, (about the size of my half-sized DVD player.

Any Ideas?

Plus the DVD player sound quality output is not as good as just playing normal Mp3 cds off of my head unit so I am looking for a change anyway.

You are asking for alot.. WHy not get soemthing like this:

This way, you can kiss your DVD player bye bye & go straight PC w/ a DVD ROM.

Mount in trunk, get a wireless keyboard & mouse.. Good to go...

You wont need to have some bad *** PC in there. Just something that will play MP3's & show DVD's without it locking up. I am sure there are some used PC out there for cheap that will handle this easily. Just pick up a good sound card that can put out what you want it too.

Dude, Ipods are max 40GB, and cost $350+, I have more music than that, plus the display is too small. That is alot of money that you can only use to play music, I have thought about it alot trust me.

Computer eh, wireless mouse eh? maybe I can rig something up with my lap top. Interesting.....
