electrical bugs in my system.... help!
hello. i am here because my car is doing some wierd stuff. first off. i installed jdm sidemarkers a few days ago and ran them to my bumper lights. everything worked fine for a day. then my bumper light dies. i check the bulb. its fine. i check the connections and it looks like some type of gunk was inside the connnections blocking it from the connections. so i used connectiosn pulgs and hardwired it and then turned on the hazards and they didnt come on. (so i thought it might be a fuse, check under the dash. everything is fine. check the fuse under the hood. the fuse is blown. so i change out the fuse. turn on the hazards again. and they dont work! they dont turn on. so i am thinking maybe the fuse is blown once again. and it is fine. fuse is okay. so i am pretty mad at this point. turn on my car. the cluster is goign all wack! first off. the tach needle isnt moving. al gauges except the speedo aren't working. but the lights come on. Also the clock doesnt seem to come on. But the radio works fine. headlights work fine, corner lights come right on. and fog lights are fine as well. am i missing something? is there a short or a fise someone hidden i forgot to check? did i totally mess something up? im freakin out and i have no clue what to do. help please
yea, sounds like a short somewhere...also check ALL you interior fuses...not just the ones for the hazard and turn signals. I know that in my car there are a couple different fuses for the dash portion...one of which is directly connected to the dash clock and left portion of the dash. I was running an alarm light trigger to the corner lights and there was a slight piece of metal touching a wire and it cause all kinda of fuse issues...including everythign that your talking about. HTH
i checked every fuse. went to the local u pull it shop and replaced the two main relays. and hazard switch. also i totally took apart the sidemarkers and rewired the system back to stock. still no go....double triple checked the bumper signals and they are wired correctly. its wierd how my cluster tach gas gauge temp and bhumper lights dont work, but everything else is fine... what is a guy to do next?
bump, c'mon all you electrical experts! the thing stopped when i turned my hazards on. worked the night before, but just stopped. put new friggin relays in as well and they still dont work. new bulbs again, all new fuses. still no go. anyone? plz help
hey whats up
your problem sounds like a negitive cable --to either a sidemarker or something else ----you need to double check your neg connections --on either those side markers or the headlights ----ok and that "junk" in the bulb socket is DIOELECTICE GREASE it keeps air water --dirt ect out --you kind of need that stuff --you can get a packet at Autozone for .99 hit me on aol-aim
s10killer90 or s10helper if you need help still

oh, ahha. well the sidemarkers are not hooked up anymore. i unhooked them and the headlights havent ben touched and they are working right now. and my foglights are working as well. just my my tach, temp gauge, gas meter, and turn signals dont work.
I have the exact same problem, after I swapped a b18a my gauges stopped working. Only the speedometer works. clock and turn signals dont work either. Everything worked fine before the swap.
