Well you may have just been driving like that TODAY...but it could have been building up for a while and progressively getting worse until yesterday when you drive and it gave out. My best guess is that something broke loose and was churning around in their at high speeds and eventually broke through. Thats what happened to my brlock when i blew a hole through it. All it takes a piece of metal, a think wall, and enough power to blow a hole in it.

get a new tranny...one for that matter shouldnt be too bad...but if you want a little more bang for your buck...get an si tranny as call it a day

Normally I would say go for it, but I can speak from personally experience that JBweld will not work too well for that job...you can try but I wouldnt. I usued it on my radiator when a had a small crack in the canister and it blew after a few hours or normal driving...i wouldnt trust my life to something that starts out liquid and turns to solid...just my $.02...good luck...btw if your tranny breaks you run a good chance your tires locking and you being a sliding duck so to speak if your cruising down the highway with you jb welded tranny...hth

^^ Of JB Weld wouldnt hold a radator crack/hole you had then youre not using it right because I used it on my car and have driven the hell out of the car and the 1/4 sized hole stays fine

I dont know if a tranny is pressurized a lot or not. Id still give it a try

well, you can j-b weld it if its just the bellhousing. but i would pull the trans out and make sure the throw out berring tab didnt break and punch a hole in your case or some other u.f.o.

it drives perfect, actually better than before it blew, cuz i didnt know it was messed up till after driving it to a friends house, and i just drove back...

the hole is up where the pass. side axle meets the tranny. sooo... iduno

i got this **** called quiksteel instead of jb weld cuz this **** is like a putty instead of liquid and i tested it on some stuff and it seems to work great.

so imma try this tomorrow morning hopefully it works

Hey man its not like metal just fell of the tranny case, somting hit it either on the inside or outside, id take your tranny out and totally inspect it before just welding it up and adding fluid.

Theres a good chance somthing hit it and it put a hole through her but you prob. would have saw what you were about to smack into, (gravel, road construction, that ****).

but its your car not mine.

Jb weld wont stick to oil soaked tranny. Take it apart because there has got to be something floating around now and running it is only going to chew somthing else up. Housing is bad but you still could salvage internals.

Something had to have come out of there. Are you sure you still have all gears, synchros, forward, backward, sideways, etc? I can't picture what is in that part of the tranny without seeing it, but something must have come out.

well first of all I like your avatar.. can you email me a large pix
apexichild@yahoo.com

well in order for JBweld to work you would need to take off the tranny case, CLEAN it super well (simple green, rubbing achole) dry it completely... the apply layers of JB weld.

Anyone know who sells the hybrid tranny's rebuilt and all? I remember a thread about someone making them and selling them...I don't know how much they were charging but if anyone knows what i'm talking about please let me (and everyone else) know.

Ajent jam... heres a link of one for sale right now. He wants 500 shipped for it but hey im sure he is a lil flexiable.

http://d-series.org/viewtopic.php?t=5993

also mista bone does them for himself. i dont know if he would do them for other people, might want to give it a try.

Also Tom on the eg forum b18c5-eh2 has done that to his tranny. He said he never did it before and jsut followed his helms manual and did it himself. If you have a spare tranny give it a try.

Apexi child...were you refferring to me about my valve cover?

1st off make sure its not a typical hole...like a missing screw or something (I'm sure it isnt...but just worth mentionning)

The tranny is aluminum, you'll need to have it tig welded.

Best bet is to try some jb weld...it should work fine if you can get all the oil out of the hole and clean it.

Yeah thanks Brent i just responded to the D-series.org post sounds nice but why did they swap ZC 3,4,5 gears? I thought the point of most hybrids was acceleration down low but a nice wide 5th for cruising??? Maybe just his application. I also found http://www.effinmotorsports.com??? they sell them for like $650 -$150 for core.

Yeah i dunno about the 5th gear thing. most people swap the 3rd 4th gears and leave the si 5th. But i wouldnt mind that much. Would feel like a b16 tranny in a way.
