Default Spoon ECU?

I recently bought a red 1990 CRX with a B16A already installed. I've had four other rex's, one with a B16 that I swapped in myself. The new car however is stupid-fast compared to the other B16. Is it possible that an ECU chip that the previous owner claimed to have put in made that much diffrence. If so, why dosen't everyone have one of those 25 dollar "Spoon ECU" chips that are on Ebay.

Could have been tunned. Talk to the previous owner to find out what he did to the motor then you will fine out why it seems so fast.

Well to be specific, the car went through two other owners including a dealership before it got to me. The little information i have has been passed like a game of telephone. If i were to open up the ECU are there any identifying markings that might tell me more about the origins of the mystery chip?

Yeah it was one of those shady used car dealerships. Weirdest thing about it was i bought the car from the owner of the dealership at his own house. He loved it so much he took it home.
