is higher compression better for all motor?
i was messing around with a compression calculator and ive found that a d16z6 head with a y8 gasket on a 90 DX block will give alot more compression than that same setup on a 1.6L a6 block.. is this going to be a faster setup than using the a 6 block even though that is a 1.6L ? im am a lil confused about this .. can someone explain which is faster and the main diff?
yes generaly higher CR's will result in HP gains, you need to conider clearences before slappin together any combos

d15b2 block, d15b2 pistons, z6 head, y8 3-layer HG = 10.1:1 CR
d16a6 block, d16a6 pistons, z6 head, y8 3-layer HG = 9.95:1 CR
i would not consider this "alot" more compression...not worth swapping motors.
if your worried about compression...
d16a6 block, d16a6 pistons, z6 head, y8 2-layer HG = 10.23:1 CR
you bring up an interesting point though... heres a better way to put it...
which would be a faster setup (for drag racing i assume) with the following the same:
tranny
intake
exhaust
cam
car
a d16 with 10:1 static CR or a d15 with 10:1 static CR? more torque with the long stroke d16 or possibly more high end hp and engine acceleration with the better R/S ratio of the d15?

What's the redline and powerband like on both motors?
Assuming they both have the same redline, the 1.6liter will have more displacement, therefore more power and a fatter powerband, if only by a little bit.
