If you have a harness, absolutely (you can't duck in a roll if you're strapped in with a 5-pt. For autoX and drag, it's not really necessairy (unless you're in the 13s obviously, or whatever the rule is)...but, it does stiffen the chassis, and extra protection is never a bad thing. If you do get one, make sure it's installed well, etc.

 

It's always better to be safe then ........

 

I think a roll-bar would be better for what you described.

 

For drag racing, a roll bar/cage/whatever you want to call it is needed for 11.99 and quicker. Helmet required for 13.99 and quicker.
