New bearings, hone crank and cylinders 1.5 Civic?
Since I am replacing the rings on my '92 1.5 Civic, I was thinking of going over the whole lower end if necessary as it only has about 108K on the clock. The car was overheated twice by a prior owner, has a flat deck, newly rebuilt head, new water pump, new radiator and runs great save for burning oil, which the new rings should solve. It is a daily driver not a world beater and I am not very familiar with Honda engines and life expectancy. My experience and question comes from working on stock cars and Ford/GM RWD cars, which seem to need rebuilding from the factory. Seriously any suggestions would be great.
You would be stupid not to replace the bearings while you are in there. They are cheap. But, don't bother with honeing the crank journals, unless there is obvious scoring. Just watch out for the colour codes.
