Need Type R Parts or Parts Car and info.
I basically have a nondamaged clean title shell of a 2000 Type R and I need to put it back together. I was hoping to find a totaled car somewhere but I have had no luck of course after a week of searching. I read online this guy found 2 totaled R's that he used to put his 98 back together. Anyone know of a place I can find parts? Also-If I buy and older chassis what years can I get that stuff will bolt up like fuel tank, brake lines, suspension, etc? What about a mailing list or something from insurance companies that I can get on when one comes in?
Any info would be helpful.
And I HAVE TO put this thing back together if you know what I mean. There is no other option.

Somehow, I think he doesn't need body parts.

Don't get me wrong...I could use them but I doubt I'd get the deal these guys I know got. I'm even thinkin like a totaled GSR to get this thing rolling again. I found a 99 totaled but complete for $4000 on ebay but i'm still shoppin around. Damage looked like pass door, fender, and bumper. I'm kinda lookin more for info on where I can get a complete wrecked car and I'll piece the body back together later.
I know people on here know what they got so I doubt this place will be the place for deals if you know what I mean. Anyone near me wanna talk PM me.
I don't really want to buy pieces until later when they are needed to finish my project.

Bare is right. I got the power steering rack, part of the A/C that I walked all over on accident. Rear plastic sides from back. All wiring except for the main engin harness (cut at firewall), ummm...wipers with motor, dash with VIN, bare fuel tank.
I listed more than I forgot. Ya, I'm thinkin wrecked GSR to get this thing driving again. Later I'll sell the GSR to get a C5 back in it.
I found a rolled 95 GSR for $200 in Montana with no motor or rear disk but everything else. I wasn't sure what would bolt up cause I think this was the last year of OBD1 right? Wasn't sure if they cahnged location or mounting of anything like brake or fuel lines.

I guess you could say I've been in a similar situation as yourself. Well actually almost, I've pieced together a complete JDM ITR(well, as close as you can get with a LHD GSR shell). I've spent a great deal of time and MONEY in order to complete my project. IMO the best/easiest thing to do is to stick with ITR parts(performance wise atleast) when piecing your ITR back together, since those are your original intension's. Hunting down parts can become very tedious and time consuming. Buying other parts which you decide not to keep on the car anyway will cost you alot of TIME & MONEY. I would stick to your main goal as to not get sidetracked.
I don't know how you'd do this but maybe try to source a used JDM ITR to import and then you can take all of the parts you need from it. I've read that they are pretty cheap used in japan, you'd just have to find someone that is willing to buy one for you and ship it which is prolly tough.

I though about this too. The ones on eBay that are already over here everyone wants an arm and a leg for. Any readers Japan wanna help me out? anyone know what a JDM ITR is going for over there?
Thanks
