Well, got back from Roebling this weekend, and gotta tell you, that is a fun little track. For my first time ever there, I managed to acquit myself pretty well with street tires. (1:32's) On Sunday, though I only saw ~2 second improvement with race tires, and was running low 1:31's to high 1:30's. Last lap of 2nd session on Sunday, was passing deep into 9, I was shallow and got on the gas a little early. It looked like I was going to put 2 off, though not by much. With thoughts of hook spinning into the wall running though my head, I just steered off, nice and controlled, let off the gas, and brought it back on about 200 yards down the course, nice and slow, to the checkered flag. Proceed with cool down lap, and get pointed to the pit-out marshall, who starts yelling and cussing. Apparently, it looked a lot worse than it was. I say "yes sir, sorry sir", cause he IS right, I should have slowed down a lot more, but I was under control and did it deliberately. I just hope the camera got it all. Get back to paddock, and chief instructor comes over about 5 minutes later, and picks up where pit marshal left off. I can't say he was wrong, and it's their job to make sure we are all safe. Great event, hard on equipment. Corded a tire, and smoked a set of Hawks down to the backing plate, though only on the LF. Still trying to figure that one out. RF pads are in great shape, and the car wasn't pulling to the left. Hmmm....
By the way, driving Roebling on street tires is lotsa fun. I recommend it. Kinda like balancing a ball on top of a ball.

wow! sounds like an adventure. yeah, roebling on street tires is lots of fun. i went there in sept and it cost me a set of front tires when i was done. oh well
Theres a event coming up Nov. 4th if you are interested let me know ... there is a preregistration for this event because the last turned out 110 racers.. it was a good event even though we only got 3 runs
So why is it that they got mad at you for? heh, and my driver schools, the instructors took us for rides in vans and they ALL intentionally drove off the track coming out of nine, just to show us exactly what to do. You did the right thing, no doubt.
So did Roebling munch up your front tires? I actually think a lighter FWD car with less power has a definite advantage on Roebling. Since this is a true RWD track, anything FWD suffers quite a bit, and heavier cars just wear out the fronts even faster. This is the only track I know of where IT7s run could win ITA if they really wanted.

They got mad probably because it was right in front of a Boxster S that I had just passed, really late, and was trying to carry some good speed down the front straight. Had it gotten as ugly as they feared, it might have gotten into a 2 car incident if the guy following had not had his wits about him. It is the PCA and a driver's ed school, not a racing school, so tactics like that probably are not what they instruct.
And yes. You were right. That course is a little tough on the left front tire. I need one new (or slightly used) Kumho now.

A fun weekend for sure. I had a blast running in the advanced/instructor group and actually passing people! Esp in the short shoot between 2 and 3.
Madhatter is just too fast! I had to hustle to stay ahead of him in lap times and he was on STREET TIRES for most of thew weekend!
Here is a pic of me in the braking zone for 4.

Geez man, cut him some slack. That is how much ride height I have at rest...
It just looks that low cuz of his Type R lip on the front.....Maybe...

There is in-car from both me and Madhatter. I havn't had a chance to look at it yet, but if there is some good stuff, I will make a clip or two.
