Default ? about alternator/idle

can a loose AC belt **** up your alternator?? And can a fucked up alternator make your idle too low like it's gonna stall? I got the right size belt on there now, but the idle was still shitty, (like 400) so i adjusted the idle screw on the TB and since then the idle is fine, except now theres a loud knocking sound. WTF is going on???? Advice please. Thanks

94 JDM h22 P13 if it makes a difference. Still ruuns strong, just want to get rid of the noise. Should I change the idle back to 400 and see if the knock stops? then if it does go buy a new alternator?

Whatever's making the knocking noise maybe caused the low idle. But probably not related to the loose belt. Find out what's making the noise first, then go from there. Use a piece of hose for a stethoscope.

it's coming from the left side of the valve cover, or somewhere near there.
