Quick release steering wheel options?
I know someone who has like a Paddle type release. Its a real nice anodized finish. I cant remember where he got it from. But does anyone know of who would make something like this? I dont like the ones with the pins on each side to take it off. Something just doesnt jive with me about those
Thanks.
Thanks.
heres what im looking for. its alot cheaper and alot of the racers use it .
I need to know what size the stock steering shaft is though so i can order this ,.

Uses a spring loaded sleeve that releases three separate lock ***** when the sleeve is squeezed against the back of the hub. No pins to mess with. Hub is tapped for three 1/4-28 bolts on a 1.75" bolt circle for the steering wheel. Hardware to attach wheel is included. The 1" hex inner member is a very close sliding fit with the hub to minimize backlash. Hub is aluminum, hex adapter is steel.

the only shaft sizes they have to choose from is 5/8 and 3/4? will either of those fit a Honda without having to weld it on .,
i might jsut get the reg hub from Sparco then . i dont wanna weld anything in if possible
thing that sucks is ther person i got the wheel from already drilled out the 3 holes for this hub above. I might just fill them in with something to make them less noticeable

I picked up the Sparco quick release, although it was a little on the pricey side. I've had it for a year, and I love it.

Get a good hex one, like from LTB. It's much easier to find center, and there isn't much freeplay. The people that say there's too much freeplay have never used one. The hex ones are cheaper too. Added bonus.
You shouldn't be busting gobs of dollars on this. It's an easy mod. Momo hub adapter, quick release adapter, and a nice Momo steering wheel (mod 78) can all be had for 300 some odd dollars.

The only problem with that one is it extends your steering 2.5" closer..
I have a pic of it w/ the measurements if anyone wants to see it.

yea i deff dont want the wheel closer. I have a hard enuff time driving it now becuase im soo big. Now with the quick release do i still need a reg style hub? then attach the quick release to that hub?

Yup, Most quick releases are a 'spacer' type which basically 'sandwhiches' in between the hub/steering wheel.
Most QR's fit on to a regular momo hub... the only company i've seen that needs a 'special' hub is Tekniq, which I think is purely a marketing scheme.

The Sparco hub is the same as MOMO though right? also do i have to worry about them disattaching while driving like people say? i didnt really thin about it until i read it on a post in here

Sparco/momo hub.. pretty much the same stuff.
None of the people I know with the quick release have has had any problems with it unlocking and disattaching while driving, splined/ball bearing lock =

Try http://www.upgrademotoring.com/qwikrelease.htm. They are recommended for racing only, not for street use. It's a little pricier now, but it bolts right onto your existing shaft.
Although Warren has a good point about a hex hub being easier to center, i don't use a horn so it's easy to mark center.

Sparco and Momo aren't the same, because mine doesn't look anything like the Momo one in that picture.

They're referring to the common 6 bolt pattern to attach the wheel to the hub or quick release. Looks like that QR is drilled for multiple patterns.
