Cold Start Blues....

My son and I had a 1989 CRX Si manual trans, with 107/K miles on it. At the beginning of March he was cut off and rear ended another car. The insurance company totaled the car. Given the drive train in the Si, we bought a 1991 CRX HF shell and swapped everything in the drive train and interior over. Everything came out OK and she runs and drives better than the old Si. The only exception is in the morning when we got to start the car. Its extreamly difficult to start, and if it does fire its idle is very low around 500 rpm, and not the usual 1500 or so for a cold engine. We've fiddled a bit with the throttle cable and were wondering where else to check/test. Anyone have any pointers as to what and how to check what may be causing a low cold idle and hard cold start situation? Thanks....
- idle air control valve. it's at the back of the intake manifold. Might need a cleaning or it might be broken.
- fast idle thermo valve (under the TB) might not be opening.
- fast idle valve (on back of the Intake manifold bottom driver's side). might be bad aswell.

IAC valve looked OK, we gave it a good cleaning. We also replaced the fuel filter. Engine ran the same. I'm used to newer cars where everything is controlled by the computer. I had no idea these had a manual idle adjustment screw. Found it in the shop manual. Gave it a tweek, and all was well. Thanks...
