Default stock muffler...mod?

well, i needed a project for metal shop and i decided to cut open my extra stock "EX" muffler and get all the crap that was rattleing around out.

well, here it is, the inside of a stock honda 94 accord EX muffler:

well, i was just wondering before i weld it back together if there's anything i could do to it to get it to be a little more free flowing or even sound a little big throatyer without making it too loud.

advice anyone...no, i'm not trying to make a performance muffler (i already have an apexi n1 on the car) just seeing if i could do anything to this one.

or another option, would be to just weld it back together and leave it alone...either way sounds good to me.

what is ur reason for this???........u coule always gut it, run a pipe from the inlet, create a new outlet and seal up the holes from the origional outlet, fill it w/ steel wool.....there, now uve got a straight through muffler...

if ur running a resonator, and u pack the steel wool in there good, itll be quiet untill WOT......unless its a free-flowing muffler, its not gonna do much for you IMO......

i'm not really trying to get any performance out of this, just asking if i should do anything to it before i weld it back together...

i'll probably just paint the inside with some high temp paint (mostly to make sure nothing rattle's around, then after it's welded shut, spray some more paint throught the pipes.

i mainly was asking if there's anything i can do to what's already in there to get it to be "more" free flowing but not sound like crap...i'm guessing there isn't....

the paint will just fall off...even the high temp stuff...why are you going to try and make it more free flowing if you aren't looking for performance...???

Let's see. You want it alittle throatier, not worried if it helps, which actually anything to make it throatier would help in performance alittle. Well, look at the two exiting ports. See how small they are. replace those with some larger ones. That will keep it basically the same, but just give it alittle better tune.

sorry, didn't know what i was thinking...

i'd like it to perform a little bit better, but i don't want it to sound like crap

that last idea sound good...would i replace the piping with a larger sized diameter piping all the way through replacing the exhaust tips or just the inside piping?
