car seat in crx
hey im just posting this for the girl friend.. but she always wanted a crx and she might actually be getting one this time around.. i just had one question.. does the crx have a back seat? i personally have never seen one.. im 50/50 when asking people some say yes some say no.. but if it does have a back seat any of you out there ever had a baby car seat in the back? or seen it done? it looks like the civic has a back seat so maybe that might be a better choice for her.. but she just wants to have a crx.. if anyone can help me out that would be cool.. and maybe if some1 has a pic of the back seat of the crx.. thanks
ps keep in mind she is only 5'2'' so if there was a back seat im sure there is plenty of room between her seat and the car seat

As far as I know, the US version never came with a back seat. Although European models did have them. I have a 91 CRX and I put a back seat in it. I was able to get a seat from a guy that got it from Europe. The seat and all hardware is OEM Honda. I have two kids both under the age of 6 and Yes, a car seat will fit back there. There will be plenty of room if she is only 5'2". I'll have to find some pics for you!!
if she has a baby don't let her buy a CRX. the whole *** end chushes like a soda can when hit from the rear. it is NO PLACE for a baby back there. if she has to have a honda and she wants to have something like the crx go with the civic...its not as pretty, but her kid will live to see another day.
no place for a child.
no place for a child.

Yep, any Honda or small car for that matter will crush easily. Do you think a Civic coupe is safe against a SUV?

Not much!

I would advise you to get a Civic if you need to haul baby seats around; the CRX did not have a back seat here in the US, while the Civic hatchback did. The Civic back seat is large enough to fit a baby seat, and would be safer.

No it isn't. I would never dare sit back there myself (if I could fit), let alone trust my own child's life to it. It doesn't even have 3-point seat belts, it only has lap belts. The rear end of the CRX crushes up like a soda can when hit from behind, and there is very little area behind the front seats for a "crumple zone" - that's probably the only reason Honda couldn't equip the USDM CRX with a rear seat. They probably would have done it to lower insurance rates, but US safety regulations wouldn't have allowed it (thank goodness).
I doubt an average baby seat would even fit in the CRX back seat, due to the very small size of the seat itself and the extremely tight headroom.

Didnt I bring this subject up not long ago. Its up to you if you want to put a baby or kid in the back. I agree, it is safe if done properly. My son rides in his car seat in the front seat and my tiny asian wife rides in the back seat. It is as safe as anything else, accidents can happen anytime to anyone anywhere.

Buy her what she wants. My wife wanted a CRX ever since she was a young girl, and now she has 2 of them. One I am junking because its a lost cause and will cost more to fix it then its worth but my other one is on the rise and has a back seat, and is our only means of transportation at the moment. Get a REX, not a Saturn. If you are gonna go American, then go SRT-4 Neon.
i wouldnt put my dog in the back, never mind a kid.
have you ever seen a crx rear ended? not a pretty site.
if you google.com it therea a euro crx wrecked from the back. if there was a kid in the back he'd be dead. so just search.
