Help: Can't remove the oil filter
I can't get the damn oil filter off. I have the wrench that goes over the filter (its the loop kind). Theres no way i can turn it once i get it on so i can't get it off. Human strength doesn't seem to be enough, the dealer did my last change. please help, i just drained my oil and need to finish this quick. i need a way to get the oil filter off without the proper wrench. thanks!
i drove the car with that oil filter on for about 5 miles (literally). BUt the oil filter has been in the car for 5 months. maybe i can leave it until next oil change (i'll do it early at 1500 miles)

oil is gonna pour out even though i drained it already?

yes, it works. I've done it. After unsucessfully trying to remove the filter for way too long, it was quite satisfying to impale it with a screwdriver. It is messy though.

i realize getting it off won't be too bad, now how about tightening it up properly. i just thought about this. *thinks to himself why he waited til the last minute*

just place it so the handle is higher/lower allowing more room for handle to move until it grabs.. i cna't remember since last time i used it, but i think i got a better hold of filter laying underneath from driver side.

Oil filters should only be hand tight.

Fuminsho - Glad to see you've moved on to a new project (Del Sol) how about a rundown on it?

No one has ever used these? They work with a 3/8" drive ratchet and are sized for the filter, I have 3, one for the small OEM one, one for the aftermarket OEM large style ones, and one for the Honda ones. The universal wrenches suck.
Yep those babies are the only way... The filter is just too close to the block and all the other **** in there - those belt wrench's do not work in the amount of space available... Everyone should own one of these

finally finished, i fiddled with the belt wrench for a good 20 mins, no luck. I just shoved a screwdriver into the filter and that worked, big mess though. Now i need a shower. Thanks for your help! I will go buy the right kind of wrench tom, i wish car parts stores were open 24/7
