Default looking into buying a bike

I need to know what is a good starter bike? I have riden on my buddy's 250 dirt bike and thats enough power for me. So I don't need a anything over 600 cc do they have 400's I want something that looks nice. Also The reason i want a bike is becasue my integra is now turbo and has lost it's a/c. Will riding a bike be nice and cool or should i just buy a beater car with a/c ? I know that you have to wear all these gear, so wouldn't that make it hot? thanks

I would suggest getting a slightly used suzuki sv650 or yamaha yzf 600r. I picked up an '03 yamaha 600r myself and I love it! It's pretty beginner friendly. Or if you prefer something less than 600, suzuki and kawasaki make 500cc bikes.

So do you think that the yzf 600r is a good starter bike. I am 5"10' and 140 lbs, Is this bike too big or too small for me. I really love the look of this bike. Do you think a bike will be cool(cold) enough or will i still get hot? Do you think this bike has to much of a power for a beginner.

i'm 5'9 1/2 and weigh about 135-140 and the bike feels perfect to me. when i'm moving, the wind gets kinda chilly, but when i'm stopped and have all my gear on, it gets warm real quick. and i don't think it's too much power for a beginner as long as you respect the bike.

I heard that the first gear in the yzf600r picks the front end up. I think thats really a lot of power. But i really love the look of it. I was thinking about the zx 600r ninja, I am sure this doesn't have as much power as the yzf, but is there other bikes that have the same style of the yzf. I am talking about the double slant head light. I don't like the box shape head lights some bikes have, or can you put a different style of the head lamp on bikes.

If you are on a budget, I'd say get something nice so you don't have to worry about it for a while. Whether it be new or used.

A buddy of mine went from a 250 Rebel Cruiser straight to a 600RR and went to track days with it with no problem. It's all about respect for the bike.

I have no intentions of getting on the power. I just think its a cheaper way, then getting a car and haveing it insured. Its like 3000 + 20 insured then a 6000 + 230 insured. I really like the looks of some of the 600's but i don't want the front end lifting up on me when i am in traffic. I know what you mean by respect. And i need a daily driver now, and was thinking about a bike. I would get a 250 if it had the style i like. Does anyone think that the zx-6r or the yzf-600r is to much for a beginner?

bikes will lift only when you make them lift. hell, an xr50 will lift for you if you are riding it that way. its all in rider control.

yea man thats the truth i wouldnt worry about any bike really lifting as long as u respect the power that the bike has. as long as you arent going from no throttle to wide open in first or second u will be fine.

as far as the zx6 or the yzf6 eith bike would be a good first bike. if u dont have much experience riding on the streets then i wouldnt recommend buying a new one. the first time u eat it u will be pissed by the repairs on the plastic. that **** is expensive.

Thanks, I couldn't have said it better myself. Respecting the bike involves knowing what the bike is capable of.

If your getting a bike for cooling purposes, don't bother. Because your going to end up on the ground fast. And that would suck.

for your first bike.. go for like an F2 or F3.. something older. CBRs are also good starter bikes. im saying go for an older bike cuz if you wreck it, who cares buy another one.

BUY A JACKET. dont go cheapo on the helmet either.
