Default please help! fucked up idle!

i did ALOT of searches and haven't found my answer. I just got my h22 swap, and the only problem was the AC belt was too big=sqeals. also the car idled kind of low. 400. when i reved it, it would sometimes jump down below 400 and stall. Got the new belt, and the idle was still low. Think the alterntor got fucked? Now i adjusted the idle from the screw on the throttle body, and since then the idle has been perfect. right at like 800-1000. Only problem is that a knocking sound started coming from somewhere near the left side of the valve cover like an hour later. It really doesn't sound good at all. Should i change the idle back to 400 and get a new altrnator?? What is that damn knocking sound? Any advice/help would be great. thanks!
