How big of a shot will the D16Y8 take?
I have a 1997 civic EX, it has a NOS nitrous setup, setup for 65 shot, AEM CAI, apex'i GT header, stock piping exhaust w/ a muffler welded on, aem fuel rail, vortech AFPR. How much of a shot can I run safely? What should I adjust my fuel pressure to right now, and is there any special way to do it? It also has a B&M fuel pressure gauge. Thanks.

well when i had my 98 ex, i ran it like this for a full year without any problems at all on a 150,000 mile car.
50 shot fogger system.
timing advanced to 18 degrees
dc header with greddy catback.
fuel pressure was kept oem.
i was told not to go any higher than 50 shot with stock internals if i wanted to run flawless without any problems...
so not sure on the 65.. some say it will be fine others say no..... all i know 50 shot worked great and i pushed it to redline more than enough times and never had a problem

you ran nitrous with your timing advanced to 18? I thought you should retard it to 14 or at least kept it at 16 for the 50 shot.

no you never want to retard the timing when your adding NOS. because retarding the timing will reduce the fuel output (even though the ecu will adjust it). not enough gas will mess up the engine.. the more gas the better, but you dont want it too high.. so at 18 degrees works great...

well its only 2 degrees so you wont have any detonation problems.. but if your like 3-5 degrees then i can see that happening..
the timing will advance or retard 1 -2 degrees at times anyway so your really only adding a very small amount more of fuel...
in other words you need more fuel to be sprayed when using NOS. so everything burns. and the only way you get more fuel , or the easiest way to get more fuel to burn is to advance the timing.

ok, well i can only say what my experience was, with a 150,000 mile motor using a 50 shot fogger system. and i bought a bottle about every month and ran flawless for a little over a year and took it off for smog and passed smog with the 18 degrees advance also. but didnt pass the visual inspection since its supposed to be set at 16 degrees but after running the 50 shot i still cleared my emission readings...so i can only say what i did, and how it turn out for me... it might be correct it might be wrong, i dont know but i had no problems.

i will say this i will not go back to using NOS. it gets expensive after awhile... $40 bucks for each 10lb refill...
ill leave the juice to the track guys....

So do you guys thinks I should just leave it at 65? Is 100 reasonable/achieveable at all? How fast do you think I'd be running with the above mods, apex'i GT spec catback, under drive pulleys, and a cam gear to help tune with? Thanks.
well i know you would run into trouble for sure if you were running a 75 shot or something and had your timing set at 18 degrees. If you want more fuel than you should get larger injectors, vafc, fpr, or something like that to tune it with.
Yeah, I know, just got an INSANE steal on it, and it doesn't sound too bad... it's just holding me over until I can get an apex'i GT spec exhaust to match the header.
you can run a 100 shot safely, if you, get -2* colder sprak plugs (bosch Plat -2* is good) Retard your timing -3* and have uped Fuel like a FPR or Larger injectors, I run a 100 shot ONCE in awhile With stock timing -2* colder and not spraying off the line I do it maybe 6 times a month for a run. and then stay off the bottle for while I spray a .032 N20 jet on a daily basis thats like a 60 shot, To be on the safe side as well I put my n20 nozzle bout 20" from the TB on my CAI so it dilutes its self on the way there...
who's a ******* ricer? I hope your not talking bout me cause my car Will beat the brakes off of what ever you have and you can take that to the bank.
dry setups are scary, i would always run a wet set up with an upgraded pump for safety. Retard the timing a bit and run a 75 shot with what i described. With a dry shot, well .......i wouldnt even run it

Was I being called the ricer or the guy above being called a ricer? I'm asking so that I can avoid making some stupid "ricer" mistake... just wondering how much the D16Y8 will take, I didn't think it could push 100 but I was wondering... my friend seems to think it can, I think otherwise...
one word... WOW... I have a Stock B7 block and I spray a 100 shot when ever I go to the track never had a problem with my set up so you sir are the dip ****, with your false Info givin self I think the older members on this site Would agree with me that you should have been beaten severly at birth. WOW...
all depends on the bottle pressure aswell. im running the 75 shot jet but my bottle pressure is only like 600 cause i dont have the bottle heater on. so im really on running like a 55 shot. but you can run the 55 shot without retarding the ignition and on stock internals just dont run mnore then 4or5 runs back to back. let the engine cool down.
