Hey all--

I just got my hands on a 92 CX hatch (111k, VERY clean, $1000--she had no idea what she had ) and naturally, it has the Honda cancer in the rear fender lip area.

The rot is far from horrible--no holes, the paint is still there, but it's definitlely rotting from the inside. Should I try to grind it away and patch it with some kittyfur bondo myself? At $1000, I don't really car to drop too much at a bodyshop, but I will if I must.

Any input is welcome.

 

Well simple surface rust can be taken away by WD40, but for more hard core rust go to Home Depot and get some rust remover. Ther are pretty much all teh same but remember after cleaning/sanding, spray them with a primer to keep the rust away.

 

Thanks for the tip on the rust remover. I think I'll be in there with a dremel, though. While there are no existing holes, i think the more I pick away at the rust, the more I will create a hole.
