Yea, it will work and fit great... and it's aluminum instead of the plastic on the top... i think... it is a direct bolt in, but you will have to figure out how to mount your tranny fluid cooler on their... i guess you could use your existing cooler and just bolt it to the new radiator using the existing hardware.

I'm not so sure .............

Don't the auto tranny radiators have inlet / outlet lines for cooling the tranny built in? Before I got my Fluidyne, I looked at a "universal" (auto or manual) radiator, and it had some capped-off hard lines coming out of the bottom of the radiator, for the tranny. Since Typee-R's are all manual, they wouldn't have any lines for the transmission.

Don't listen to me on this one, though. Since my car is standard, I'm only going on what I've heard / seen, rather than first-hand experience.

Good luck.

That's correct. I just swapped the radiator in my (5 speed) Integra and got one of those "Universal" radiators. It has two lines for the tranny cooler that the stock radiator didn't have ('cause it was for a stick obviously). A manual car won't have those inlet/outlet lines either, so you won't have any place to connect the lines from the tranny.

Good point ndustryalGSR.
Just an idea to Confucius, you can install aftermarket tranny cooler if the type R radiator does not have cooler on the bottom.

how much would a aftermarket cooler be? and how does it work?

if the type r radiator is aluminum, cant i just weld an outlet on it? like, take it from my old radiator and weld it onto the type r radiator?

You can get a brand new radiator around here for $150 (excellent quality), and there's a couple radiator websites that are inexpensive solutions for ~175 shipped.. I'd roll that ANY DAY over a used radiator.. IMO, it's not worth it..

Tranny coolers run cheap @ $45 for good ones, with everything u need, so no runs to the local auto store..

it's (Type-R radiator) aluminum instead of the plastic on the top... i think.
I keep reading that the Type-R radiator has aluminum end caps. But every photo that I have ever seen of a Type-R it has plastic end caps just like other radiators. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

The ITR radiator is lighter than the GSR/LS radiator.
The GSR/LS unit is made by Showa, while the ITR one is NipponDenso.

I bought 2 tranny coolers for my cars from summit. http://www.summitracing.com/

For our already crowded engine bay tegs, B&M tranny cooler will fit better.
More compact more efficient than tube-and-fins style. http://www.bmracing.com/noflash/index.html

Call up the vendor and tell them you'll be by-passing
the heat-exchanger on the bottom of your radiator.
They should be able to help you selecting the right one.

I got B&M tranny cooler 70255 in series with
the heat exchanger but in your case you might need to
go to the bigger one.
