clutch will hold crankshaft pulley from rotating?
i havent changed a timing belt on an accord before, and i was wonderiung before i start if the clutch in 5th gear will hold the crank pulley from rotating so that i can loosen the bolt. any info would be appreciated. and would the starter approach work? as i have heard these have reverse threaded bolts. and one more question what size are the threads on the pulley so as to use a pulley puller. my other car had an m7 and i got tired of searching, no place has m7 threads > 65mm so i just used an m8.
i had to change teh crank pulley on my 91 before... as far as i remember its normal threaded.... i imagine the 5th gear thing would work, i dont know, i have an auto

yeah teh crank pulley bolt is normal threaded and the starter trick will not work cuz the engine spins counter clockwise so you will just be bumping it tighter if you crank the starter. I am not really sure about the thread of the bolt, but you shouldn't need to use a puller on it it should come off relatively easily, if not just wiggle it and use a pry bar.
The clutch will not hold the engine if you are going to use a breaker bar. Buy the correct tool to hold the balancer or use a strong 1/2" impact (IR titanium) or 3/4" impact.
The balancer will just pull off with your hands...
The only reverse thread (that I can think of) on the whole car is the power steering pump nut.
