Default BUYING A BOOSTED Si

I HAVE THE CHANCE TO BUY MY FRIENDS '00 CIVIC Si W/ A GREDDY TURBO KIT (18G) FOR A GOOD PRICE AND WAS WONDERING IF THERE WAS ANYTHING I SHOULD BE LEERY OF? HE HAS EAGLE RODS AND JE PISOTNS (8.5-1 I THINK) AND ITS A GREDDY KIT RUNS AT6 OR 10 LBS DEPENDING WITH THE PROFEC B. JUST CURIOUS AS TOO HOW LONG TURBOS AND CLUTHCES LAST AND WHAT ITD BE LIKE TO MAINTAIN IT. HAS AN ACT CLUTCH AS WELL, SO ALL THE FRAGIL POINTS THAT MIGHT NOT HANDLE BOOST WELL HAVE BEEN STRENGTHENED. SO ANY INPUT WOULD BE HELPFUL.
THANX

Make sure that he isnt just trying to get rid of a ticking time bomb as some turbo honda's can be. Get a mechanic or someone who knows a lot about turbo'd hondas to check it out.

As far as maintainence goes, just regular car maintainence, but "stricter". Oil changes more frequently, use synthetic oil. Premium gas, let the car warm up before romping on it, and always let it idle for a minute or so after you run it hard, and probably like 30 seconds after just regular driving.

Oil coking is a big problem when oil is inside a hot hot turbo and doesnt circulate, then it hardens and blocks the flow. Thats bad news.

Good luck!

How is it tuned, blue box? If yes check the rings and compression of the motor. Basically all the blue box does is dump TONS of fuel. If it's in pretty good shape get atleast a Hondata S200 w/ boost and get tuning.
