B16A CAMS AND RPM'S QUESTION
I'VE GOTTA JDM B16A IN MY 90 CRX AND THE REV LIMTR IS ABT 7600... I WANNA CHANGE CAMS AND ALTER THE VALVE TRAIN IF NESC. ... WHAT CAMS SHOULD I USE AND WHAT ARE THE MAX RPM'S I CAN PUSH W/O BLOWING UP ? ?
first, if you have a 7600 rev limiter you probably have an automatic ecu. you can put in any cams you want, but some wont make power past about 8500. if you want max power and RPMs, get a set of the Crower 63403s or some JUN stage 3s or Toda spec Cs. However, with those you'll need a much improved valve train, springs, retainers, etc.. And I wouldnt spin the stock bottom end past about 9200.
If you want to keep it simple without porting your head and upgrading ur fuel maps to handle those crazy *** cams I would just throw a CTR intake cam in, that will easily make power 8,200 with a little bit of tuning and you shouldn't have to upgrade ur whole valve train. Also I agree with Jared you most likely do have an auto ecu if you have a 7,600 rev limit (try gettin a manual PR3). If you plan on goin with non OE cams plan on spending more $$ to upgrade other parts. Have fun!
open the top cover, look on the secondary board (knock sensor board/PCB) it will have either A/T or M/T stamping in the bottom left corner...
otherways is that you get code 19, 7.6k rpm redline....
also you can tell by the number on the barcode.... usually if the last three number are: 901 or 900 its an auto, also the last letters can tell you but can't remember the exact way....

if yu want yours rechipped i sell complete chip sets so you can do it yourself....currently Mugen (3800 vtec, no rev limit) program $50 shipped
it converts auto ecu to m/t
