About the only reason to wrap your header would be to protect something that runs in front of the header from heat. Like a turbo or something of that nature.

like your radiator ......on a "stock" engine bay, removing the hear shield will just make the can run a small amount hotter, which means ull just have ur fans cooling the car for an extra 5 min after u shut if off........

I have heard that if you wrap the exhaust pipes and the radiator hoses you can decrease the temp under the hood. By decreasing the temp, you get slightly colder air if you have a short-ram intake. I have also heard, dont know how much is true, that you can get slightly lower engine temps. I personaly think that its probably to much work for a little change in temp.

The stock heat shield really doesn't do a whole hell of a lot other than clean up your engine bay. If you have a aftermarket header then make sure it isn't a POS ebay one otherwise it will crack and that sucks. The whole purpose of wrapping a header is to reduce underhood tempuratures, a stock system won't really generate that much more heat by a shield (is made out of a very thin metal piece). A turbo would obviously generate a hell of a lot more heat thus needing a shield or wrapping .

thx for the replies so far guys. I tried a search and didn't find anything. i have a 2003 accord and the oil filter sits close the the header, the main thing is i don't want to burn my hand/arm whenever i change my oil, which the stock heat shield seems to prevent. I want to get aftermarket header and then wrap it for this reason. It will be DC sports, either ceramic or stainless.
