well, i pulled the valve coover off no problem. i made a little chart to keep track of all the little nuts and bolts so that i put them back on the the right place, but now i have a problem:

when i went to put the new spark plug seals in (which was the reason for pulling off the cover in the first place), i noticed that the originals were completely round, while the new seals have two divots 180 degrees from each other, on the inside of the 'ring'....

i have a JDM B16A from a '91 Teg, and when i went to Honda, i just ordered the gasket and seals for a '99 Civic Si... should i just leave the old seals in there, or will the ones with the divots be okay?

sorry, but this is the first time i've done anything other than oil/ sparkplug/ brake pad, etc. changes...

I thought the seals needed replacing? So wouldn't it not be okay to leave yours in there?

 

yeah, but i don't want to compound the problem by putting in seals that won't work... the reason that i wanted to change them was that i was getting a little oil on the #3 plug... if the divots allow oil to get past them, then this little project is a waste...

maybe i should just put the new ones in and drive it a bit to see if they work?

besides, when i told the guy that i was running a JDM B16A in a '90 CRX, he looked at me like i was talking Greek. the guy was clueless... whatever... i guess i'll just put the new ones in and wait to see if i am still getting oil on the plugs... it's not like it isn't happening already...

well, i changed the grommets or sparkplug seals, or whatever the hell they are called, and changed the valve cover gasket last friday...

today i checked the #3 plug, and there is oil on it again! WTF!!?? it doesn't blow smoke or anything, and pretty much runs very well, but this is pissing me off! does anyone know if i should go and get the seals for a VTEC Del sol, or what? i'm gonna go check the other plugs right now, so i'll update in ten minutes or so...

well, the other three plugs are pretty much clean, there was a tiny bit on the #1 plug, but 2 ond 4 looked like they just came out of the box...

#3 is the problem... what the hell do it do to fix it? note, it's not so much on the threads, it's on the TOP of the plug where the wire goes...???

PLEASE HELP!

i thought i did... went and cleaned the plug wires, and ran up the street and back... got on it a bit as well... then checked again... everything apppears clean...

damn...
