bump-stop is a piece of rubber sitting around the shock piston shaft.

it's a foolproof device that save your shocks from destroying themselve by over-compressing(going over deeeeeeep pothole, especially for lowered car)

ever heard of the expression "ridding on bumpstops"?
it's referring to very very low car that when they corning, the spring compress so much and the car is literally ridding on the bump-stop.

unfortunely alot of people just throw those poor guys out when they putting on aftermarket spring/shock. that pretty much explains all.

bump-stop....kinda self explanitory really. stops the shock from bottoming out and making a horrid "bump noise" which we just all looooooove to hear! its a life saver.

bumpstops = can sometimes be cut in half for greater suspension travel

when you purchase aftermarket springs, there is a guide to let you know how many mm to cut off the bumpstop...definitely want to keep them on for obvious reasons
