Default NOR CAL/SO CAL R meet Location and Date Poll

I'm going to leave this poll open so please vote for the track and date that would be best for you. If it's not there please enter the track and specificdate that would best fit you in this format, "Track,Date".

Please keep the poll clean.

For those who have experience with both...who knows which track would provide equal driving distance for so cal/nor cal people. Also, which track do you guys like better and for what reasons.

ButtonWillow sounds good to me!

I won't have a vehicle for the track by then, Buuttt...
I will bring a easy-up canopy, a generator, and a couple arcade games along...hehe..

Along with the H-T banner of course.

You need to get some street fighter or nba jam!

Nice collection you got there. I really like the home built ones. I wish I had the space to house a collection of my own.

Honestly, I don't care where it is in California... as long as it is after finals, I'm there.

buttonwillow will be closer for both norcal and socal, though i wouldn't count out willowsprings. as far as preference, i have never driven willowsprings. they are very different circuits. buttonwillow is very technical, and other than the "magic mountain" section, is very forgiving. willowsprings on the other hand is a fast track with long turns. i'll let others comment more on willowsprings.

streets of willow could be another option. i have driven this track. it is well suited for beginner to intermediate drivers. it's a much shorter course than either buttonwillow or willowsprings. very fun course nonetheless! but then again, it would be closer to the socal'ers, which would defeat the "norcal/socal" title.

i voted for buttonwillow.

kepani-who will be "tracked out" in june after the exblow4

Buttonwillow is between Nor and Sol Cal, suits both ends.

I will know that as soon as we know how many people are going.
Costs are but not limited to:

[*] Track Rental Fee's[*] Insurance (5,000,000 liability minimun)[*] Ambulance[*] Course Workers

As you can see it's not a cheap. If we get round 40-50 people it might be around $250. I don't know yet that's just a estimated figure.

The purpose of the poll is to gauge interst and see if somthing like this is even possible.

Am I missing something here? On Buttonwillow's schedule it lists 'Track Daz' (motorcycles) as having the track the weekend of June 26/27. Wouldn't it be cheaper to rent during the week anyway?

From what I hear, planning a track day is a major PITA with track rental, insurance, corner workers, emergency vehicles etc. not to mention participants pulling out unexpectedly. May I humby suggest that we consider one of the existing HPDE's? Here's a list of what I've found so far - If anyone knows of others, your input would be welcomed:

Jun 4 - Willow Springs, SpeedVentures
Jun 5/6 - Buttonwillow, NASA
Jul 10/11 - Streets of Willow, SpeedVentures
Jul 24/25 - Willow Springs, TracQuest
Jul 24/25 - Streets of Willow, SpeedVentures
Aug 7/8 - Willow Springs, SpeedVentures

Notes:
NASA events require membership, $35/yr last I checked
NASA event is $150, TracQuest wants $350 (!) per day, SpeedVentures has not got back to me on pricing, but they are usually a good value and they are well organized with lots of track time.
New insurance regs at the Willow facility have put an end to HPDE participants giving rides/carrying passengers other than the instructor

I think this is a very good idea since we don't have to worry about getting "enough" people to offset the high cost when after everything is included. The only downside is that it's not going to be "ITR-only" anymore. However, if we could somehow put (sign up) all the ITR's together in one run group, it would be cool and i am up for it.

My 2c.

"BenR", can you check with "SpeedVentures" or other (good value lots of track time) group to see if we can be group together as NewR suggested?
