Gm synchromesh is same as other brands. (link)
You don't need the FM Syncromesh if you aren't running a LSD. The Friction Modifiers are designed to reduce chatter in LSD equipped gearboxes, but some think it is too slick for non-LSD trannies. So anyone without an LSD, like me, can buy Pennzoil to their heart's content.

I swear by GM Synchromesh, as do many others. my 4th to 5th gear grind slowly vanished after running GM Synchromesh. This stuff is the sweet sauce.

I didnt say I don't use Syncromesh, I am just saying that there are 2 types (friction modified and non-friction modified). If you have to use FM due to having a LSD like InfamousGSR, then you can't use the Pennzoil version. However, if you don't have an LSD, you don't need to use the FM version, and can use plain old GM, Quaker State, pennzoil syncromesh and save a little money for the same product.
