Crazy Auto Question
I have noticed that my wifes 2000 accord will shift itself while driving with cruise control on (meaning it will downshift when it needs to speed up) where as my 96 accord will pull the throttle down but not tell the auto to downshift, so my question is does anyone know if its the transmission computer that controls this or is it the ecu and if it is the TC then are they interchangeable? By the way the 00 is 4cyl LX and the 96 is 4cyl EX.
Not too sure about that, i know a lot of other cars downshift when they need to speed up, going uphill and such, however my car has a manual transmission, so all the shifting is up to me. Goodluck with that
Yes Im aware of how a manual Transmission works, but on all Honda Accords, at least before the sixth generation the four cylinders would not downshift while cruise control was engaged, it worked exactly like your cruise control with a manual, if I want my 96 to keep the same speed going up a hill I have to "manually" put it in a lower gear. I guess Ill just have to compare wiring diagrams and check it out for myself.
