Default Tachometer question

Hey whats up guys, I have a 1999 accord ex I4 (can some 1 tell me the model of this engine, I hate to have to refer to it that way) and I notice when I am driving and I let off the gas my tach goes down to 1500 or less and then revs up to about 2000 or 1800 on its own. Then it will go back down to around a 1000 or so. Is this a normal thing? I wouldnt know, as this is my first honda. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

F23 series motor. Unless your trans is acting funny I would not worry about it. MY '94 accord does the same thing and it has over 150K on it

Auto or manual? If its an auto, it could be the gear's switching, but then again it wouldn't rev as high as 1800-2000 rpm's. But that would be too easy of a fix right?

Would this happen to be when you let off of the gas on a hill or flat ground?
That sounds like grade control logic.

This happens on flat or hilly roads. I guess i exagerated a little on the rpm's, its more like it goes down to 1000 and then revs back up to 1250 or 1500. I dont think it is the trans as it shifts smooth as silk. It is not really a problem, but just wondering if it is normal or not. Thanks guys for the suggestions.

Official Honda-ese yes. Actually a cool use of Compression braking. I notice it most as I'm resting my foot on the Brake Pedal.
