Havent posted in a while...still happening though...
Whats up everyone...
After a few hundred dollars and lots of time, I've still yet to find a solution to my problem. Surging Idle.
I've replaced or checked everything!!
1.Idle controller--Intake mani
2.TPS--under throttle body
3. Flushed coolant and checked for air bubbles
4. checked all vacuum lines and connections
5. I've noticed the t/b had lots of gunk, and i've cleaned it, now as a separate issue, when i hit the gas and let go, the revs shoot up a bit, (about 1-1.5 K)
One noteworthy thing is that a while ago, i replaced my rad cap and thermostat with Spoon upgrades. I DID NOT however, replace the fan switch....could this be a possible issue?
This is a shitty situation because the car runs and pulls SO strong, i know its just a small issue, and WHEN i find it, i'm gonna feel like a bonehead.
Where are the experienced H22 guys???

when you mean surging you mean it idels really high?? if so is it the hotter the motor gets the lower the idle? it will stort at 3k cold asnfd the longer i drive the car the lower it gets. i dont meant coolant temps, it like heat soak takes place and it goes lower!
Mine did the same thing(H23), and here's what had happened and how I fixed it-
The oil vapors that come in through the PCV valve had soaked through all of the gaskets in the intake manifold and now they were leaking. As soon as I replaced ALL 3 of these gaskets(not including the TB gasket..did that earlier), the problem was completely solved....now I have perfect idle
Look at your gaskets on the IM and see if they are a black color....if so, they're soaked in oil and some dirt...They should be green...
So, anyhow, now I am about to get an oil catch tank and have a clean IM and no idle problems....

if the idle screw on the TB is screwed out all the way or missing then the IAC might not be able to compensate. With the engine cold start the car and remove the IAC connector. You will get a cel but that does not matter. if the engine idle does not drop then it might be that screw. The ecu will Tell the IAC to idle the engine at about 1000-1500 rpm so if you disconnect the connector the idle should drop.
But i would think about the IM gasket too.

might be the fast idle valve, i believe the h22a's had one of these. went bad on a friend of mines gsr and i replaced it for him and solved his surging idle problem.
Whats up Tony...
Good call, yes the H22's have one, and i replaced it awhile back. I also replaced the idle control valve on the intake mani...and that wasnt it either. One thing of note is that this problem only occurs when its cold out. Remember having those few nice days last week? NO PROBLEMS whatsoever, then as soon as the sun went down and it got colder, the surging started again. DAMN IT!!!
My girl works at Ffx Honda and she hooked me up with a tech there...he is gonna do a BG top end service and see what happens...I havent done any major induction service to the motor since dropped in, that was 2.5 years ago! I had a friend with a civic and he had the same probs, and yesterday he had the BG done at Advanced Automotive, and it cured the problem...With my luck, I'll just be wasting more money

BIG UPDATE!!
Actually, props to my girl for recommending Keith at the local Honda dealership, Fairfax Honda. From what everyone told me, he is the best Honda Tech around. He did a couple things, removing the computer from the loop, checking the timing, checking and more checking...and finally found (with a stethescope oddly enough) the IM gasket got sucked in from when the butterfly plate that was removed. It turns out that when it was removed, one of the bolts was obvously messed up and they put a new one in, with some stacked washers and so on. Well basically, over the last 2 years now, this has "sucked in" the gasket, creating a pretty bad vacuum leak...WOW. So, he also said that my throttle body is bad, and I need a new one. He said its clogged up, and there is no way to fix this. So...now to fix this whole problem, the most fun and expensive way is to get a Euro R mani, and bored out TB. But, I do have most all the parts, cept the TB, so what I will end up doing IS getting a bored TB and just use the brand new OEM parts that I already have. I have the gaskets, new top and bottom portion of the intake mani, and the butterfly plate will be reinstalled. After that, the car heads back to the dyno for tuning...

Yea, I thought it was horse **** too, so I called him back and asked what the hell he was talking about. Of course I had it twisted... He said, Its clogged. I can take it out, take it apart, clean it and it will likely be good to go. Or I can get a new one. At the same time i will have it ported (possibly by Jorge aka The New Spaceballs). He said last night when checking it out, when he opened up the vacuum port in the TB, no air was coming out, hence it being clogged.
Yes, i did what you said, and no it didnt work....which now makes sense because the vacuum leak it on the top half of the intake manifold.
btw...Boomplustoys.net has the EuroR intake mani for $275+ shipping.....tempting.
