Just did a Reno round trip.. My @ss is numb..
Yea from B.C. to Reno is about 2,200 km ( about 1,300 miles ) and we just got back... here is some casual observations if anyboby is thinking about doing a long trip and cares..
The seats are great around town and pushing hard, but they are hard when you sit in them for 14 hours straight.. mind you after a while you can't feel your butt anymore so that problem goes away...
SURELY TO GOD cruise control doesn't add that much weight... I would gladly
trade my power windows for cruise. How hard do you guy's think it would be to retrofit? It's hard to keep an even speed in the mountains when there is a cop behind you for an hour and a half!!! Just tap the throttle adjusting your butt position and you can bump up 10 mph in no time..
Fuel economy was about 28 mpg ( rough average at about 65 to 70 mph ) This is with the tach under 4 grand. Surprise surprise I caught some insane traffic and was able to do 80 to 85 mph on most of I-5 on the way home. Mileage bumped to over 30 mpg.. this was with the tach over 4 grand.. Now just try explaining to the cop that you are conserving fuel.
The stock stereo really sucks...the car is so loud at highway speed that you really have to crank the stereo.. Any time I got out of the car after a few hours my ears were ringing.. Of course I could just be getting old.
That dam wing really blocks what's behind you.. but most annoying is the way on a rough road it makes the headlights behind you blink on and off as it blocks them out... It looks very much like you are being constantly chased by flashing lights.
Now the good stuff...
Everybody you pass jams on their brakes to let you go by.. they must cause I passed them all so dam fast... Winding the car out to 100 mph in 3rd is a blast, and it's sooo nice to be able to stop fast too..
The car handles great.. even when I am a little asleep and get too deep into a corner before I wake up to turn
The car used no oil, the tire pressure stayed fine, it ran perfect and fast! And the bugs loved it too...
Lastly... the valet park guy's practically fought to park the car.. I mean it...
Very funny stuff... Oh and I saw exactly 0 other ITR's on the whole trip.
Great trip story but I couldn't get over the fact you let someone else parked your car. I have nightmares about some young punk valet my car.
Here's my horror story. I went to pick up my car from the valet and the kid floors it and brakes hard in front of me.
" That AEM sure sounds good" - punk kid
" Thanks." - me thinking..." man i wanna beat you over the head with my AEM"
" Im in blah blah racing crew. I have a civic HB with blah blah bodykit blah blah. Do you know us?" - big smile on his face punk kid
" No" - me glad that i ended the conversation.

Yea I thought about the parking thing, but we have been to that hotel a few times before and they have never let me down... and when I gave them the keys I showed them a card with my mileage on it.. and I know how far it is to the garage
sides... let's be realistic.. except for crashing the car ( very hard to explain... lose
job... customer kills you ) there is no way someone can run my car harder than me in a block and a half... steal it yes, strip it absolutley... but worring about my car won't prevent me from using it...
And my @ss hurts just thinking about 6400 miles....LOL
try playing with the fader on the stock stereo..... i found that you can fade it to the back speakers a bit and then crank it louder all around, the back speakers hit better than the front ones allowing more bass and general loudness all around

[/QUOTE]Thats too bad I would have loved to see a canadian r, I live near Reno.

The stock stereo sucks donkey *****.
I would go with an aftermarket headunit (that doesn't need the antenna to be up to use the damned CD!
) with a 4 way output. I tried an Alpine unit with 60 W x 4 and it was pretty good - but I eventually opted for a separate amp to run the front speakers.
I dynamatted the front doors only which really cut down on road noise and improved the acoustics of the car remarkably - and bass response of the front drivers.
