Default no movement!?

Hey guys, I have a freind who just swapped a jdm h22 into his 91 accord. The motor is a 92-95 h22. He is currently using the original sohc tranny that came with the car. By the way it is a automatic. Anyways, it "the tranny" was running fine before the swap, but after the swap he has not been able to move the car. The tranny fluid was drained and replaced. Our local honda repair shop says that he needs to replace the tranny with a jdm one, and to buy one and have it put in would run 1600. Im assuming he should be able to use the original tranny that came in his car. The motor runs just fine, no issues there.

If you guys have ever had this issue or know a solution. please help us out. I dont know dittilly **** about accords, or automatics, as i am a eg guy myself.

Well weve had a local shop look at it, and they have performed quite a few of these swaps. Im just assuming they would know if that were the case.

The F and H auto trannys have different torque convertor stall speeds.
Please elaborate more on your problem.

Also, it is a waste of time to mate an auto F tranny to the H22. I would suggest your friend swap to 5 speed at this point.

I agree, get a five speed H-series tranny in there now. And to your question, what ECU are you guys using? I think the ECU has to be an automatic ECU and if you had a five speed that should be a manual ECU. Am I correct?

well right now he wanted to use his auto tranny until he had a chance to do a 5 speed conversion. I beleive he took his F tranny and matched it up to his h22. He is using an auto ecu. So what would need to be changed in order for him to use that F tranny with the h22?

on obd1 it doesn't matter whether the ecu is AT or MT. However, you need the TCM. I used a J-AT and a J-MT on my h22 when it was automatic. Then I swapped in a h23 tranny and have been happy ever since.

More than likely you are going to need the tq conv and pressure plate from an auto H23 (or JDM auto H22) to make this work right. You will have to yank the tranny again to install this stuff. Might as well do the 5 speed conversion and be much happier like me!

yeah i think youre right about that one. I told him he should just do the conversion, but he insists on the auto setup for now. I do beleive he used the the F TQ converter, and Pressure plate. So, if I understand this correctly, he needs to go to an H22/23 tq conv and PP, and this setup should work?

I cannot give you a 100% positive answer, but i think yes. I haven't attempted this setup, but I remember being told by a friend who was really into his jdm auto h22 setup that you couldn't use the f tq conv and pp because the stall speed was different.
