i just bought a 1994 honda prelude, i went to the drags had a couple runs, and then i tried to reverse out of where i was parking, and my stick wuldnt go into reverse,
about a week later i managed to get it in and thought my troubles were over, only to find that the next time i went racing, i lost reverse again! does anyone know wat is going on....all my other gears work? help anyone!!?!?!

My revese went out in my fifth gen prelude. It was quite bad. But then I got into an accident and when I got the car back, it is more willing to go into reverse now. Sometimes I have to punch the top of the stick when it is in the middle neutral postion and then it works.
Well it sounds like your shift linkages are bent out of shape or damaged. If this is the case it will be harder to put in to gear. Try and find out if this is the case, it'll save you alot of money.
Have you tried pumping the clutch, till it goes into gear??

try throwing it into all the other gears, varying the sequences, before trying reverse.
if in a bind, move the car forward slightly in first, then go to reverse, you might feel it touch the teeth. hold it in reverse and it might grab enough of the teeth to get you out of the hole. do this enough and you just might wear away the ends of the gear teeth. but, if you're lucky like me, you might get reverse back, magically delicious!

it came right again, but as soon as i gav hrer death, reverse went again, talked to a honda specialist, sez the whole gearbox has 2 go, im not keen about that,
Mine did the same and I replaced the reverse idler gear and fork and it fixed it, but I think it was just a coincidence. I'm willing to bet that you slammed 3rd gear pretty hard each time at the track, huh? Maybe even missed it one time?
yeah I like 4bidden would also bet you slammed halfway in between 1st and 3rd like a bitch and laid a beating on your reverse. You have to be careful with that.
